In 2017, I had a conversation with someone about why I had not started a YouTube channel… Again, the common argument was that people don’t read as much and my posts can sometimes be too long… For those who know me, I’m sure you could picture the “not impressed” look on my face!
I’ve said it before… I’m sure that I’m not the only one who still likes to read? My hubby is still trying to get me into audio books but, I actually like the hard copies. I like the look of my book collection on one of our many bookshelves. Anyhoo, I explained that I was not really interested in being a YouTuber and he asked whether I had thought about podcasting… Now, that really got me thinking because, I remember when I used to listen to the daily audio bible every morning while I walked to the train station. I didn’t have to have my phone out and worry about someone looking a bit too intensely at my screen (one of my pet hates) or be distracted by the great or not so great camera work and editing.
We spoke for a little while about podcasts and off I went to do a bit more research. One month went by… two months went by… then three and then before I knew it, it had been over six months and I had entered 2018 (covers face). I decided that 2018 is going to be about making moves and really trying to get an even stronger message about fertility challenges out there.
So, the podcast… it’s called ‘9MonthsandWaiting’ and I got this really cool lady to design my artwork. I had no brief other than to provide my logo and she did an amazing job. I mean, I even like the pink in the background and that a lot for me!
The aim of the podcast is to give a message of encouragement, hope and expectancy to the listeners whilst also creating awareness and educating. I want it to be something that everyone can relate with… whether you have PCOS and are not trying, whether you have just started trying or have been trying for a number of years – to those like myself, who have been on the journey, received their blessing and want to try again.
I’ll be having guest features from people who have or are experiencing the fertility journey and, also from medical professionals – so be sure to go and check it out! I launched it on Monday 5th February and, to my surprise… people actually like it! I even got reconnected with my long lost cousin after almost 13 years!
If you would like to feature on an episode or know someone who would, please do get in contact with me. Also, if there’s a particular topic you would like to hear more about, let me know – I’m all up for doing research!
You can find the podcast on podbean and iTunes!
Be Encourage, Be Expectant
There is just something about the feel, comfort, and even smell of an actual book. I am old school that way and would rather have an actual book to read then listen to an audio book or read a book on my phone or a kindle. I think it is absolutely amazing that you are starting a podcast and I am excited to listen. I just downloaded yours to my app! I listen to podcasts in the morning while I am getting ready. It’s literally about the only 30 minutes I have to myself in the morning (I am a stay at home mom so free time is very limited). I’ve often thought about starting a podcast myself but honestly don’t really know where to begin on doing so. I am so proud of you for bringing even more awareness to the topic of infertility. Your cover for your podcast is eye catching and beautiful. I love it. I struggled with secondary infertility and went through IVF to have my 2nd daughter. I’d love to hear more about the topic of secondary infertility and when you are trying again after already experiencing secondary infertility. I’m in that boat right now and I just don’t feel like I belong in any of the infertility groups right now that I so desperately need for support. If you ever have questions about this topic or about my journey I’m happy to speak about them! I firmly believe that we are our own voices in this and nothing will change if we don’t speak up. Again, this is amazing and congrats on your podcast! I look forward to listening.

Hi, thank you so much for your message! I’m happy to hear that about your daughter. And, I can totally relate to not really knowing where to fit in… Secondary infertility is definitely something that needs a little more light so yes, I’ll be discussing and it would be great to connect with you! I’ll message you. xx
