Hi, I’m Kemi, I’m 32 and have been married for 5 years to my amazing King-my Plantain Boy whom I met at Primary School. I must boast in the fact that God has blessed us with an amazing marriage where we have so much fun – There’s never a dull moment in the Plantain Palace! In November 2016, my dream of becoming a mother came true and we were blessed with a beautiful baby boy who keeps us on our toes. Other than enjoying being parents, my husband and I enjoy spending time with friends and youth, cultivating our businesses and investments and not taking ourselves too seriously.
After graduating with a BA Honours in Media and Cultural Studies, I went on to work for one of the largest Christian TV Stations in the UK for 3 years. During those three years, I purchased my first home with my sister and realised that although I loved Media, my interest in property had grown so much that I quit my job as an Editor, took a pay cut and went to work for an Estate Agency. Two and a half years later, I sat professional exams for Mortgage Advice and have been a Mortgage Broker and now Adviser for five years.
Those who know me, know that I absolutely love to cook. There’s something therapeutic about cooking and seeing people enjoy your food. If there’s an event, you certainly will not find me on the dance floor but in the kitchen or helping to serve food. I have always been a reader and in 2014, I was introduced to Francine Rivers by a close friend and I just can’t get enough! I love the way she brings biblical principles and stories to life in her novels.
In 2012, I launched ‘Hampers By K’, my handmade hamper business which has grown to be more than just hampers – praise God. I do this alongside my full time job which, can sometimes be very demanding but, in my aim to be the Proverbs 31 woman, I’d like to think of myself as a grafter.
I joined The Kings Family Centre in 2009 and it has been such a blessing to me. I love serving in Church and sometimes wonder where I get the strength and energy from as I am involved in a few departments. The fulfilment I get in knowing I am helping to build God’s Kingdom is awesome! I really do see it as my extended family and am grateful for the amazing network of friends I have gained.
I must not forget two other important factors about me – 1. I LOVE all things Yellow! I mean, it’s just an amazing colour! I have tried to sneak bits of yellow into my home but am met with odd looks from my husband and the reminder that it’s not part of our “agreed”colour scheme. 2. I LOVE tea! Redbush tea, Green tea, peppermint tea, cranberry tea, chai tea, normal tea, I just love tea!
I think that is all there is to know but feel free to ask questions
