Patient Day of Action 25/03/2017
When I found out about this campaign, I was so happy, yet quite upset. I cannot imagine how much money hubby and I would have spent had it not been for our access to NHS Funding. To find out that there have and will continue to be cuts to this funding is shocking. As I write this, I’m thinking about the amount of money that is pumped into the ‘Stop smoking’ campaign… I am also conscious of those who live in countries where there is no such thing as the NHS, let alone funding for fertility treatment.
When I look back on my journey, I remember how we were so keen to get the ball rolling that we visited a hospital which was over an hour away, only to be told that they were no longer providing funding for treatment… I really do thank God for the help of the staff who wrote to our local CCG (Clinical Commissioning Groups) and applied for the funding on our behalf.
I think about the men and women who have complicated fertility challenges that could result in multiple IVF Cycles. Our first cycle was more of a test seeing as the doctors were not quite sure how I would respond to the medication because of the PCOS. I think about the breakdown of charges we were given and remember that there was a cost for absolutely everything – scans, medication, needles, sharps bin – everything. So, on the 25th March, I urge you all to please join the cause and support this campaign to give people more than one opportunity of hope.
Below is a snapshot of how you can get involved. You can also visit www.fertilitynetworkuk.org for more information
